Investigation of secondary school students' attitudes to digital citizenship

In this study, it was aimed to determine the attitudes of secondary school students towards digital citizenship. In line with the purpose, scanning model was preferred among the quantitative research methods. The sample of the research consists of 1169 secondary school students studying in the city center of Kütahya in the 2022-2023 academic year. The data of the research were obtained with the "Digital Citizenship Attitude Scale" developed by Karaduman (2011). Frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean and standard deviation, Independent Samples T-Test and One-Way Anova were used in the analysis of the data. According to the results of the analysis, it was determined that the digital citizenship attitudes of secondary school students were at a 'high level'. In addition, it was examined whether the digital citizenship attitudes of secondary school students differed significantly according to various variables. There was no significant difference according to class and monthly income level. According to gender, in favor of female students; in favor of those with a higher grade point average; in favor of those with higher education levels compared to their father's and mother's education level; It has been determined that there is a significant difference in favor of those who have a computer at home according to the status of having a computer, in favor of those who have an internet connection according to the status of having an internet connection, in favor of those who use the internet for longer years according to the internet usage time, and in favor of those who use the internet 2-3 hours a day according to the frequency of internet use.
