Abstract (EN)
As a result of the developments in the area of museums, it is seen that museums have started to have educational functions in addition to their conventional functions like collection, documentation, protection and exhibition. This study has been carried out in order to determine whether secondary school students make use of museums for their social sciences courses and if they do, to what extent they make use of museums, and to determine whether the schools provide guidance in terms of museums to the students. The study has been conducted through survey method and the data has been collected via a questionnaire developed by the researcher. The population of the research consists of the secondary schools in Giresun. The sample of the research consists of 1224 students in 5th, 6th and 7th grades from 43 schools that are found in the city center of Giresun, in its districts and villages. The general results arrived at through this study are as following: The students of social studies who participated in the study of those who benefit from the real museum and virtual museum is found to be low. It was determined that no significant difference between participants in terms of gender and class variable who benefit from a museum in social studies. There isn't a significant difference compared to the variable of settlement of the school's informative introduction to museum. Schools activities for museums and sightseeing arrangements at museums week has been identified as a significant difference compared to the variables of school settlement.
