The relationship between secondary school teachers' quality of work life and job satisfaction levels

Quality of work life refers to the perceptions of employees in the working place, conditions and the level of satisfaction with the services provided from the workplace. Job satisfaction is the happiness of his job as a result of the positive emotions he feels in the working place. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between the quality of work life and job satisfaction levels of teachers working in secondary schools and to examine the differences in demographic characteristics. The research population consists of 792 teachers working in public secondary schools in the central district of Bolu province in the 2023-2024 academic year. The research was carried out with 278 secondary school teachers working in 12 secondary schools using the appropriate sampling method. This thesis designed as quantitative research. Correlational survey model was used. In order to collect data, the job quality of life scale consisting of 6 dimensions and the Minnesota job satisfaction scale consisting of 2 dimensions were used. Since the data didn't show normal distribution in the independent variables, they were analyzed with the Mann Whitney U Test and the Kruskal Wallis H Test. Correlation analyses were analysed by Pearson test sice the overall scales provided normal distribution. As a result of the analysis of the data, it was determined that the quality of work life and job satisfaction levels were high. While significant differences were found in the quality of work life according to gender, no significant differences were found according to marital status, education level and professional seniority. There was no significant difference in job satisfaction regarding gender, marital status, education level and professional seniority. It has been determined that there is a high level, positive and significant relationship between teachers' quality of work life and job satisfaction levels.
