Examining the effect of secondary school teachers' knowledge levels about global climate change on their behavior and awareness.

In this research, the temperature degrees of global climate change and the information they have are determined according to different demographic distribution conditions (age, gender, length of service, branch, education level) and their effects on temperatures. The research was conducted with 293 secondary school teachers working in the inner Aegean region and affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. Data were collected using the Global Warming Knowledge Scale developed by Eroğlu (2016), the University Students' Awareness Scale towards Global Climate Change developed by Deniz, İnel, and Sezer (2021), and the Environmentally Friendly Behavior Scale developed by Sahin, Oztekin, and Hiğde. According to the findings obtained through descriptive statistics and correlation analyses, it was observed that the knowledge and awareness levels of teachers about global warming and climate change were not generally sufficient, but these levels were higher in some demographic groups (e.g., Religious Culture teachers and undergraduate graduates). It has been found that knowledge level has a positive effect on environmentally friendly behavior and climate change awareness. As a result, growth in this field has made a significant contribution to the spread of knowledge and regional growth, environmentally friendly efficiency and the general environmental awareness of society. The results are expected to have an impact on the importance of training programs and information campaigns.
