Examination of the stress coping styles of licensed athletes engaged in orienteering and shooting sports in terms of some variables

The aim of this study is to examine the stress coping skills of licensed athletes dealing with orienteering and shooting sports in terms of some variables. The universe of the research consists of athletes who are engaged in orienteering and shooting sports licensed in Bucak Municipality Oğuzhan Outdoor Sports Youth and Sports Club (Burdur),Bucak Sports Club (Burdur), Bolu Youth Center Sports Club, Kütahya Youth Center Club and Association, Sakarya Youth Center Sports Clubs; on the other hand, the sample group, consists of a total of 225 athletes, 47 women and 178 men, who were determined by random method among these athletes. The data used in the research were obtained from theoretical framework written sources, and the data in the study area were obtained with the "Styles of Coping with Stress Scale (STAS)" developed by Şahin and Durak (1995) (Şahin and Durak, 1995). The questionnaires were filled in by the sample group after giving information about the subject on a voluntary basis. With this method, a total of 225 participants responded to the survey. The obtained data were transferred to the computer environment for statistical processing and processed in the appropriate statistical program. As the descriptive statistics of the statistical process: frequency (f), percent %, "Mann-Whitney-U and Kruskal-Wallis" tests, which are comparative statistics, were performed. The formula p<0.05 was accepted as the level of significance in the interpretation of the data. In conclusion; orienteering athletes compared to shooting athletes, male athletes compared to female athletes, married athletes compared to single athletes, high-income athletes compared to low-income athletes, older experienced athletes compared to inexperienced athletes; tends to have a more confident and optimistic approach to himself.
