Abstract (EN)

This survey explains people's local geographical knowledge who live in old residential are, Karahayıt in Efeler district of Aydın. The experiences and observations of seniors were used for the research. In detail, knowledge of local people about climate, direction of wind, public calendar, the way of weather forecast, concept about time and effect of them on culture are explained. Also local geographical knowledge was questioned about how much it takes place in authentic learning. This research was studied as a qualitative research design and semi- structured interviews were used for capturing data. The questions about the local geographical knowledge were asked to 50 people of 253, over 50 years old first, then were asked to 20 children who are between 10- 13 years old and studying in Dalama Secondary School, to see how much this knowledge pass down.
