Abstract (EN)

Fire hazards pose significant threats to industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and residential areas, leading to catastrophic life losses and economic damages. Ensuring a resilient safety infrastructure requires a holistic approach that combines proactive Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) measures with advanced technical solutions. This study investigates the integration of automatic fire suppression systems into OHS risk assessment frameworks and evaluates their effectiveness in mitigating fire risks. Within the scope of this research, a comprehensive fire risk assessment was conducted utilizing qualitative research techniques. The performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance of various automatic suppression systems (sprinklers, gas-based, and foam systems) were analyzed under different fire scenarios. The findings indicate that the implementation of automatic fire suppression systems reduces the probability of fire propagation by over [85%] and significantly enhances evacuation safety by controlling the smoke and heat release rate at the incipient stage. Furthermore, the study highlights that technical systems alone are insufficient unless supported by continuous OHS measures, including regular maintenance protocols, emergency drills, and employee safety training. In conclusion, combining automated engineering controls with robust OHS management plans forms the most effective strategy for minimizing operational vulnerability and sustaining workplace safety.
