ABSTRACT M.Sc. Thesis FEASIBILITY ANALYSIS FOR INSPECTION AND CONTROL APPLICATIONS IN THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY Bekir Sıddık KÖYLÜ Afyon Kocatepe University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Automotive Engineering Supervisor: Prof. Hüseyin BAYRAKÇEKEN In this research, traffic accidents are defined as a public health problem. According to the data of the World Health Organization, an average of 1 million 350 thousand people lose their lives every year, approximately 78 million people are injured and socioeconomic losses occur at a high level all over the World. For safer road traffic, all traffic safety services should be provided continuously, effectively, aware of corporate responsibilities, in a regular, harmonious and safe system approach. Based on the fact that social life is based on mobility today, road transportation is at the center of our lives and is an indispensable part of daily life. Also from this perspective, traffic safety has unfortunately become a global problem that threatens human life in today's world. The protection of the safety of lifes, which is the most precious treasure of human beings, takes place as the basic principle in every step to be taken regarding traffic safety. As one of the requirements for solving this global problem, it can be stated as the aim of this thesis to reveal the feasibility analysis of vehicle inspection and control activities, in the processes after manufacturing. By taking advantage of automotive legislation, technical data and statistical studies; Investment, personnel need, system sustainability calculations and sample applications were analyzed. In the analyzes made, evaluations were made by considering the demographic characteristics and technological development levels of the countries. The system was designed by evaluating the interactions of personnel, buildings, devices, software, quality management system applications related to inspection and control activities in the automotive sector. In this thesis, for the target country that needs a vehicle control and inspection system (by processing the data specific to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC)), other country-specific criteria were taken into account along with the legislation. As a result of the study, a viable and sustainable model for increasing traffic and vehicle safety has been presented by defining personnel, buildings, devices, software, quality management system applications, investment data and infrastructure related to inspection and control activities in the automotive sector. 2022, xii + 118 pages Keywords: Automotive Inspection, Vehicle Inspection, Traffic Safety, Vehicle Control
