Prof. Mehmet ERSOY 2024 Purpose: The purpose of this research is to examine the task analysis approaches of special education instructors towards instructional design in depth. The roles and responsibilities of the instructors, the meaning that they attribute to task analysis, their experiences and their views on a sample task analysis structure they envisage with regard to task analysis for instructional design were discussed. Method: In this respect, the research addresses a topic that has not been studied frequently and it was designed as an exploratory case study. The participants were 32 special education instructors who work in two different state universities. In the research, Demographic Information Form and Task Analysis Approaches to Instructional Design Interview Form which were developed by the researchers were used. The general characteristics of the participant group were revealed with the help of the demographic information form, and content analysis was used to analyse the data to be collected with the interview form. Findings: In line with the objective of the research, interviews were conducted with instructors working in the field of special education, and the instructors frequently suggested functional and hierarchical analysis type structures as the type of task analysis for instructional design. As a consequence, a task analysis model in which cooperation is adopted emerged.
