Abstract (EN)

The study area is located in southwestern Antalya and northern Kemer. In this study, organic geochemical characteristics of Carboniferous coaly units in the Pamucakyayla region (Kemer, Antalya?Turkey) were examined. The Carboniferous Pamucakyayla Formation, which is characterized by medium?thick bedded sandstone, claystone, marl and coaly units, conformably overlies the Devonian Hocaninsuyu Formation and is unconformably covered with Permian Dine Formation. Pamucakyayla Formation includes different levels of coal seams in different thicknesses.Total organic carbon content of selected samples (TOC) are between 0.01 % and 5.81 %. The hydrogen index (HI) range from 100 to 350 mgHC/gTOC and oxygen index (OI) are between 7 and 94 mgCO2/gTOC (Based on the value of 0.25 % TOC) Thermal maturation (Tmax) value (446?451oC) indicate mature zone (Based on the value of 0.25 % TOC). Production index (PI) is between 0.07 and 0.37. Organic matters in the deposits are Type II and III kerogens as indicated by Rock-Eval pyrolysis and microscopic datas. According to all these data, the different three organic facies types were type BC, C and CD. Biomarker characteristics also verify these results.KEY WORDS: Pamucakyayla, Antalya, Organic Geochemistry, Coal
