Abstract (EN)

Objective: The aim of this study is comparatively evaluate, from the current local anesthetic techniques, traditional local anesthesia techniques (dental syringe and carpule syringe), computer-assisted injection system (Wand), needleless jet injection system (Madajet XL) and vibration systems developed based on gate contol theory (VibraJect and DentalVibe), the effect of the stress situation, comfort and cooperation in children using psychometric and physiological measurement techniques. Method: In our study, ages 7-12 ranging from a total of 160 patients with included. Traditional methods of local anesthesia (injection, injector karpul) and local anesthesia current systems (DentalVibe, VibraJect, Wand, Madajet XL) with buccal infiltration anesthesia were applied to the patients. Anxiety levels in the evaluation of "facial visual scale (FIS)", salivary cortisol values, were used with the device pulse oximeter pulse and oxygen saturation values. The obtained data were evaluated with SPSS program. Results: FIS, SpO2 and pulse rate data are examined, especially when compared to other methods of anaesthesia and local anesthesia with the Wand and karpul injector device as statistically more acceptable by children (p<0,05). Pulse rate and SpO2 values obtained before and during anesthesia, no significant diffrence could be found between groups (p>0,05). Salivary cortisol levels were examined, only while the device the Wand is successful. Conclusion: As a result of our study, which examined new techniques for local anesthesia, the Wand system is the most successful technique. However, in children there is not enough study on the effectiveness of techniques. More studies are needed of current local anesthesia techniques, for comfortable dental treatment of pediatric patients.
