Abstract (EN)
This study aimed at determining the perceptions of Eastern Mediterranean University Information Technology students on learning with Social Media, particularly Facebook. The study involved 180 participants, 134 of them were males and 46 were females. The qualitative research method and a survey questionnaire were used to collect the data. Moreover, descriptive analysis, ANOVA test, t-test, frequency, and percentage were chosen for the analysis process. The research found out that participants are divided into two groups according to their perceptions on Social Media, i.e. Facebook. Many of them support the idea of Facebook being an educational platform. However, many others see it as only a social platform. It was also found that gender plays a role in determining the participants’ views. Females use Facebook more than males. Yet, the difference was not too big. Finally, it was revealed that younger ages are more attached to Facebook in their daily life. However, the older ages are more into using it for education.
