Abstract (EN)

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common symptom in women of reproductive age, characterized by hyperandrogenism and the observation of polycystic formations in the ovaries on ultrasonography. Biochemical blood tests also show long-term, high levels of estrogen stimulation. Ovarian cancer, on the other hand, is abnormal cell growth in the ovaries that initially develops and then spreads uncontrollably to surrounding tissues, forming a malignant tumor. It is the gynecological cancer with the highest mortality rate. Women diagnosed with PCOS have an increased likelihood of developing endometrial hyperplasia and even endometrial cancer. This is because endometrial cancer is associated with obesity, oligomenorrhea, and nulliparity. Obesity and hyperandrogenism observed in PCOS patients indicate an increased risk of developing ovarian cancer. Our study is based on a grouping of women aged 18–80 years with a confirmed diagnosis of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and ovarian malignancy. Glucose levels were above normal limits in some PCOS and ovarian cancer patients. Furthermore, in both patient groups, calcium (Ca), hematopoietic stem cell (HSC), hemoglobin (HGB), and tGFR levels began to decrease as the patients aged. We believe that the common changes in glucose in both groups are due to insulin resistance in both PCOS and ovarian cancer patients, and to increased glucagon along with elevated adrenaline levels due to stress and pain. In addition, the age-related decrease in Ca, HCC, and HGB parameters in both groups is consistent with previous studies in the literature, suggesting that patients with calcium deficiency have lower hematological levels and that anemia may be observed in both PCOS and ovarian cancer patients. The age-related decrease in tGFR levels in both patient groups suggests a decrease in glomerular filtration rate and a possible decline in renal function as patients age. Common changes in these parameters are important in assessing the risk of developing ovarian cancer in PCOS patients and in monitoring the prognosis of both diseases. These tests need to be performed quickly, safely, and in detail.
