Abstract (EN)

The aim of this thesis, as an alternatif raw material feldispar and frit fluxing of mission will provide Nevşehir, Isparta pumice?s in stoneware and wall tile glazes investigate possibility of uses. At the same time this thesis was performed to provide a contribution to our country?s economy by using alternative raw materials in our country. Glazes which are produced in different compositions, color, brightness, vickers hardness value, particle size distribution analysis, thermal microscopy data, dilatometer and X-ray diffraction (XRD) results were evaluated and standard glaze receipt was determined. Determinated standart receipt various amounts of Nevşehir and Isparta pumice were added. Instead of feldispar created standard glaze recipe by the addition of different proportions of Nevşehir and Isparta pumice the formation of new phase and microstructural changes that occur, with the XRD measurements, SEM and EDX analyse have been determined. Pumice, identified as amorphous aluminum silicate, occurred as a result of volcanic activities is a porous, spongy volcanic rock which resists to physical and chemical effects. In results of XRD Nevşehir pumice?s called amorphous quartz the glassy phase structure is seen very clearly. As a result, by using pomza it is possible to develop wall tile and stoneware glaze formulations with the required tecnological properties at low cost.
