Abstract (EN)
Treatment with beta-adrenergic receptor blockers is known to have negative effects on testicular histology and spermatogenesis. However, the effects of receptor subtypes are not well-studied. In the current study, we aimed to investigate the responsible receptor subtype in testicular histological detoriation. Rats were treated with three different beta-adrenergic receptor blockers, and changes in testicular histology were investigated. Carvedilol treatment caused a decrease in testicular weight. Carvedilol and propranolol treatment had detoriative effects on testicular histology. Treatment with metoprolol succinate neither caused a decrease in testicular weight nor a detoriation in testicular histology. It was concluded that detoriation in testicular histology after treatment with propranolol and carvedilol, blocking both beta-1 and beta-2 adrenergic receptors, may be related to beta-2 adrenergic blockage. 0 Keywords:Propranolol, metoprolol succinate, carvedilol, testis
