INVESTIGATION OF MACROPHAGE MİGRATION INHIBIYORY FACTORS AND GENE POLYMORPHISMS IN PATIENTS WITH PSORIASIS Background: Psoriasis is a chronic, inflammatory skin disease that most commonly manifested by erythematous, scaly papules and plaques. In recent years, studies that analyzed when psoriasis joined by new comorbidities and so it is emphasized that comorbidities should be more carefully followed up. In the literature, a cytokine named that "Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor" (MIF) is arised that psoriasis which an autoimmune-inflammatory disease and the development of comorbidities as a key cytokine. In our study, the serum MIF levels and MIF gene polymorphism (rs755622 and rs1007888) are investigated in patients with psoriasis. Method: In this study, the association of serum MIF levels and MIF gene polymorphisms between psoriasis, were investigated among 100 patients and 95 healty controls who applied to Afyon Kocatepe University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Dermatology. Genotyping was performed by real time PCR. Serum MIF levels were assessed using an ELİSA kit and the results are given in ng/ml. Results: Distribution of rs755622 genotype frequencies in the psoriasis group were; 75 patiens for CC, 18 patients for CG and 4 patients GG and in the control group; 69 patients for CC, 23 patients for CG and 3 patients GG as a statistically significant difference between the two groups were not found. Distribution of rs1007888 genotype frequencies in the psoriasis group were; 22 patients for AA, 48 patients for AG and 26 patients GG and in the control group; 19 patients for AA, 52 patients for AG and 24 patients GG . There was a no statistically significant difference between both groups. However, psoriasis patients, mean serum MIF levels of 3.29 ng / ml and the mean serum MIF levels in the control group 1.08 ng / ml was measured. There was a statistically significant difference between both groups (p <0.001). Conclusion: Significantly higher serum MIF levels are found in patients with psoriasis. There was no association between rs755622 -rs1007888 gene polymorphisms and psoriasis. Further studies in large population series are suggested to present the role of MIF and its clinical effects .
