Abstract (EN)

Within the scope of this thesis, it is aimed to produce polymer composite films by solution casting method using ceramic filler barium titanate (BT) to improve the mechanical and dielectric properties of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF). To provide a strong interface between PVDF and BT, TEOS (tetraethyl orthosilicate) was used to obtain BT@SiO2 particles at different concentrations. The obtained particles were characterized by the methods such as XRD (X-Ray Diffractometer), Zeta Potential and TEM (Transmission Electron Microscope). The dielectric and mechanical properties of BT/PVDF and BT@SiO2/PVDF composite films were determined and comparedto each other. In addition, FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy), SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy), DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry), TGA (Thermal Gravimetric Analysis) and Contact Angle Analyses were done and the characteristic properties of the composite films were investigated in detail. The results of analyses on PVDF based composite films showed that SiO2 was successfully coated on BT and that the ceramic filler improved the mechanical and dielectric properties of the composite films. When pure PVDF, BT/PVDF and BT@SiO2/PVDF films were compared, the dielectric constant increased from 10,8 to 14,2 and 16,5, respectively. Especially for the BT@SiO2/PVDF films having the highest amount of SiO2 coating the dielectric constant was found as 24,8 at 100 Hz.
