Richard Florida's new urban crisis approach: Examining it in the case of Istanbul

Rapid growth worldwide, new technological developments and the social events brought about by these technological developments, as well as the clustering of globalization and capitalism, are the causes of significant changes in life. In the concept of 'New Urban Crisis' introduced by Richard Florida, the changes experienced in the cities with the influence of globalization and capitalism in the cities of developed countries and the consequences of what is used are investigated; The concepts of gentrification, inequality, poverty, global urbanization, the positive and negative changes experienced in cities within the framework of these concepts, the problems that arise and the solutions to these problems are examined. Gentrification and globalization have shaped the conceptualization of the 'New Urban Crisis' by Florida, by moving urbanization processes from the American cities that existed before Istanbul; Developments in the field of gentrification and globalization have continued and reached a point where it would be appropriate to evaluate it from the perspective of Istanbul. The main purpose of this study is to examine how the 'New Urban Crisis' approach, which emerged with the emergence of American cities by Florida, was handled and the equivalent of this approach in Istanbul. In the study, the emergence of new crises in Florida and the perspective of Istanbul, which has become a global city with this approach, are evaluated. In the study, the urbanization sections of Istanbul were moved from the expanding similar environment with the opportunities created by American cities by Florida. In this region's emerging crisis approach, fragments from areas brought about by gentrification and open space, inequality and vulnerability appear to be similar.
