Abstract (EN)

Television came into people's life as a mass medium in 1960's and day by day lifted its effectiveness.In case reality shows are irreplaceable for TV programs.In this study perception of reality-hyper reality is emphasised within the context of popular culture in TV adaptations.Big Brother,which is world-famous TV the program, was broadcasted first time in Turkey.So this study may help to understand how one global TV program become glocal and to what extent the social representation is reflected.The people in this house were simulated and they are not the plain truth.They take the reality's place and represent us virtual reality.This study's main goal is to show the changing between reality and hyperreality in Big Brother's house according to Jean Baudrillard's simulation theory.After literature search, Big Brother program is examined with content analysis method. In light of this information, hypotheses are argued.However one product has global character, it can change according to its region, culture, traditional and conservative consciousness, and religion,structure of family and society and public decency.In this variation, it can be reached that people are simulated and they don't reflect reality.Instead of this they live in virtual reality.In this information age it cannot be differentiated, which is virtual and which is real.There is no more real's reality.It is started to conflict,and people carry on their lives as a simulated characters.Television,as a mass medium,plays a big role in daily life and all of these are transferred to the people with television.So according to these informations,this study may contribute the future researches.
