Abstract (EN)

Reşad Ekrem Koçu is a writer who has produced successful works with his identity as a historian as well as a literary identity. One of Koçu's most important works is the Istanbul Encyclopedia of eleven volumes. In this encyclopedia, the coach explained the city's streets, streets, architecture, social life and many other topics. The Turkish Encyclopedia of Istanbul mainly focuses on Turkish folk literature and especially Istanbul folklore. In the narrations made under the headings, Koç conveyed the folk beliefs, which have a very important place in terms of Turkish folklore, in a unique style. People's beliefs, which have been fed by different cultures, have been regarded as sacred by the societies and have had an important place in the life of the society. In Koçu's Encyclopedia of Istanbul, we see the public's interest in beliefs and their impact on people. In line with these influences, Koçu shared many examples of beliefs in his encyclopedia articles in eleven volumes.
