Abstract (EN)
Cultural heritage has traditionally been understood as the physical remnants of former cultures, such as monuments, artifacts, and historical sites. Accordingly, heritage management has focused on conserving these tangible resources. However, recent perspectives recognize that heritage is also social and cultural, including traditions, practices, and collective memories, making it a dynamic process rather than a static legacy. At the same time, advancements in digital technologies have transformed how cultural heritage is recorded and disseminated. Tools such as digital archives, virtual museums, 3D reconstructions, and online platforms have increased public access, while also raising challenges related to authenticity, ownership, governance, and long-term sustainability. This study explores how cultural heritage can be managed sustainably in the digital age by developing a conceptual model that integrates digital transformation, governance systems, and community participation. Using a qualitative and conceptual approach, the study examines the evolution of heritage and the impact of digital technologies, identifying tensions between preservation, accessibility, and cultural identity. Findings show that cultural heritage exists in hybrid environments where tangible and intangible aspects interact with digital technologies. Managing these environments requires adaptive and inclusive governance models. Accordingly, the study proposes a governance model that integrates digital accessibility, stakeholder engagement, and long-term sustainability, offering both conceptual insight and practical guidance for preserving cultural heritage in an increasingly digital world.
