Abstract (EN)
The focus of this thesis is the scheduling problems arising in roboticcells which consist of a number of machines and a material handling robot. The machines used in such systems for metal cutting industries are highlyï¬exible CNC machines. Although ï¬exibility is the key term that aï¬ectsthe performance of these systems, the current literature ignores this. As aconsequence, the problems considered in the current literature are either toolimiting or the provided solutions are suboptimal for the ï¬exible systems. Thisthesis analyzes diï¬erent robotic cell conï¬gurations with diï¬erent sources ofï¬exibility. This study is the ï¬rst one to consider operation allocation problemsand controllable processing times as well as some design problems and bicriteriamodels in the context of robotic cell scheduling. Also, a new class of robotmove cycles is deï¬ned, which is overlooked in the existing literature. Optimalsolutions are provided for solvable cases, whereas complexity analyses andeï¬cient heuristic algorithms are provided for the remaining problems.Key words: Robotic cell scheduling, Flexible manufacturing cells, CNC,Controllable processing times, Bicriteria schedulingiv
