Abstract (EN)
The use of games has always been a popular technique in teaching foreign languages to young learners. EFL teachers frequently take the advantages of educational games in teaching vocabulary and some simple structures to young learners. The primary aim of the present study is to examine the role of educational games in teaching vocabulary to 5th graders. Furthermore, the secondary aim is to assess young learners' attitudes toward learning vocabulary through games and inclusion of games in English lesson. A 5-section 50-item pre-test and post-test were used for measuring the effects of games in vocabulary learning. Furthermore, a 15-item questionnaire was conducted for determining the learners' reactions to playing games in English lesson. The results have indicated games are highly effective in teaching vocabulary to young learners. Key Words: Games, Vocabulary, Vocabulary Teaching, Young Learner
