The role and importance of community-supported social practices in preventing Syrian immigrants from turning to crime "Gaziantep example"

Migration, crime and community-supported social practices can be mentioned in human mobility that ensures the harmonization of society, situation and space. Migration is considered as a national or international migration that individual/s make from the point where they are located socially, politically, economically, socially or culturally to another point. During the 2011 Syrian Civil War, there has been a significant influx of immigrants to Türkiye due to the explosion of migration. The immigrants who settled in this region for the purpose of seeking refuge, the processes of adaptation to society and the strengthening of ties have created a place as an important issue. After a while, these immigrants started to be regarded as criminals and elements of crime. Social events and solidarity groups organized for Syrian immigrants to communicate with the local people of Gaziantep have enabled the two communities to strengthen ties and accelerate the process of harmonization. In the research, attention was drawn to the role and importance of community-supported social practices in the orientation to crime. In the research, qualitative and quantitative research methods were used in the theoretical and methodological framework, which constituted the originality of the thesis. The dynamics of Syrian immigrants settling in Gaziantep have been discussed within the scope of causes and consequences. The importance of the policies, projects, supports and services organized in the field of community-supported social practices was evaluated. With the data obtained, the steps taken by strategic means and the steps that can be taken to prevent the tendency towards crime have been revealed. With the depth of the subject and the processes followed, suggestions for evaluation have been developed.
