Wind-solar hybrid energy system design: Balikesi̇r case

Abstract (EN)

Nowadays, the need for energy is increasing due to technological developments, population growth, industrialization and globalization. In order to meet the increasing need, the search for alternative sources has gained importance. Renewable energy sources are especially preferred because they are clean and inexhaustible. There are a lot of renewable energy resources in Turkey, making it a country with a lot of potential. For this reason, efficiency analyzes of hybrid system design, in which solar and wind energy are used together, were carried out. Balıkesir Province, which is suitable for the establishment of wind and solar power plants, was preferred for the analyzes due to its meteorological and geographical location. PvSOL program, which shows values close to real data, was used in the analysis. Hybrid systems are designed for 10 different situations with installed capacities ranging from 7 to 50 KW. In the studies, off-grid and grid-connected system designs were analyzed separately. Accumulators and charge controllers have been selected depending on the installed power source and the energy produced in off-grid systems. There is no need for an accumulator in gridconnected systems. In the analysis, efficiency values were examined while selecting all equipment such as solar panels, wind turbines, converters, regulators and battery systems in system designs. The study aims to guide the design of hybrid systems with varying installed power capacities both connected to the grid and independent of it.
