Quality of family planning services in jijiga health facilities; Eastern ethiopia

Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the quality of family planning services provided in public health facilities in Jijiga city and to determine the use of family planning methods and factors associated. Method: Reproductive age group between 15-49 years who were seeking family planning service were included in the study, and total of 322 participants were interviewed. To assess the association between the knowledge, utilization and satisfaction of clients to their background characteristics; T-test, chi-square, Anova, and logistic regression was used. Results: An average of four methods were known by the participants, mostly cited methods were Pills and Injectable. 81.7% of the participants used family planning for the last six months, Literacy and work status of the participants is positively associated with the utilization of the FP. Women with 1-4 living children are more likely to use FP than women with more than five children. Older clients were more satisfied with the service they received than younger ones, as well as married clients were more satisfied than unmarried clients. Conclusion: Even though clients were satisfied with the service that they were receiving there is a need for an improvement of the quality of the service; client's awareness of family planning should be raised, different broadcasting should be used to educate mothers about spacing children and the use of family planning.
