Abstract (EN)
By the development of technology, the use of computers, smart phones and similar vehicles with the internet is used in many organizations without any distinction between public and private sectors. But, employees can use these tools together with the internet for non-business purposes. Various activities of the employees for this purpose have been named as cyberloafing in the literature. The other concept in the study is organizational citizenship behavior. Organizational citizenship behavior is expressed as the extra effort of the employees by going beyond their formal roles to benefit the organization. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the cyberloafing and organizational citizenship behaviors of university employees. In addition, it is aimed to contribute to the literature and to benefit the universities as a result of not doing much study in the local literature related to cyberloafing. Therefore, this study includes academic and administrative staff at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University. Data were obtained from the face-to-face survey method applied to 180 academic and administrative personnel at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University. The obtained data were analyzed using statistical methods. As a result of the analysis, six different cyberloafing dimensions were obtained. The results of the methods found significant differences between some demographic characteristics and the behavior of virtual and organizational citizenship. Correlation analysis did not reveal any relationship between cyberloafing and organizational citizenship behavior. In addition, it was found that there was also a partial relationship between the sub-dimensions of cyberloafing and organizational citizenship behavior.
