Abstract (EN)
After the Ottoman-Russian Wars of 1768–1774, Crimea gained sovereignty through the Treaty of Kücük Kaynarca. Its sovereignty status was short-lived; because of being occupied by Russia in 1783. To regain Crimea, the first Islamic land lost by the Ottoman State, the Ottoman State began serious military preparations. After declaring war on Russia in 1787, the Ottoman state unexpectedly discovered that Austria was on the same side as Russia and would fight on both sides. At the start of the war, the Ottoman army didn't have a definite edge over Russia, but it had a clear advantage over Austria. Economic problems, a shortage of equipped soldiers and commanders being sent to the front, and other issues would negatively affect the Ottoman State. The events in Semederevo Fortress during these struggles would cause mobility on the Ottoman-Austrian front. Adding the significance of the Smederevo Fortress and its role in conflicts would offer another viewpoint.
