Abstract (EN)
Breathe, one of the parameters that a human body produces, includes information about the human metabolism. It is known that there are some relations between compounds of the breath and some diseases. One of these diseases is diabetes which is very common today. If diabetes is not taken under control; it causes serious problems and endangers the patient?s life. More often, Type I of diabetes patients? breath contains acetone odor. It is a sign of the danger for the patient, and emergent treatment is necessary. Determining the quantity of the acetone in a patients? breath is considerably important. In this study, synthetic diabetic breath is produced to be able to determine acetone quantity in the diabetic patients? breath. In this scope, by using a measurement mechanism that was made up from Electronic Nose and concentrator constituted from QCM sensor array, experiments were done. At the experiments that were carried out, firstly, the response of the measurement mechanism that gives to acetone is examined. Later synthetic diabetic patient?s breath that is made of from mixing the acetone and healthy person?s breath and experiments results that were implemented with patients? breath were evaluated with Artificial Neural Networks (ANN).The work has been conducted in the scope of TUBITAK Project, No: 104E053: (Diagnosing System Design for Medical Applications Using by QCM-SSC Gas Sensor Array). Keywords: Electronic Nose, Diabetes, Acetone, QCM Sensor, Concentrator.
