This study examines religious coping in the process of individuals struggling with cigarette addiction coping with this problem. The aim of the study is to determine whether individuals struggling with cigarette addiction receive support from religion by using religious coping in this process, and if they do, to reveal how and to what extent they benefit from religious coping. In line with this purpose, the theoretical framework was first established by reviewing the literature in the study. In the research, a parallel mixed design, which is a convergent design from mixed method forms, was used as the method. Accordingly, quantitative data was collected, followed by qualitative data. The questionnaire form prepared to collect the quantitative data of the study included a personal information form and a religious coping scale, and some questions about cigarette addiction were asked to the participants. Interview method was used to collect qualitative data, some of the interviews were conducted face-to-face and some by phone. Interviews were conducted with 15 volunteers, and the survey study with 405 volunteers. However, since the data sets of those who participated in the survey despite stating that they did not struggle with cigarette addiction were excluded from the analysis, the analyses were conducted with the data sets of 341 participants. In the analysis of quantitative data, t-test and one-way ANOVA were used since the data showed normal distribution. While the universe of the study consisted of individuals aged 18 and over who are addicted to smoking and live in Turkey, the sample of the study consisted of individuals aged 18 and over who struggled to quit smoking, who quit smoking and started smoking again or who were able to quit smoking. While a significant difference was found in the religious coping levels of the participants according to their socio-demographic characteristics such as age, gender, and educational status, no significant difference was found according to income level and marital status. According to the findings obtained from the qualitative data, it was concluded that 10 out of 15 participants struggling with smoking addiction used religious coping during the struggle process. It was determined that the participants benefited the most from prayer as a religious coping method during the struggle with smoking addiction. As a result of the combination of the research findings conducted with the mixed method, it was determined that the participants received support from religion and positive religious coping in the struggle with smoking addiction. According to the results of the research conducted with the mixed method study, it was concluded that the most frequently used religious coping tool was prayer. In the study, it was determined that some participants benefited from religious coping elements such as prayer, fasting, charity, Umrah, religious conversation.
