Cyproteron Acetat-Induced testiculer injury: Prevention with adjuvant LH replacement therapy and reversal with İnhibitors of angiotensin converting enzyme

Abstract (EN)

Antiandrogens are used in the treatment of metastatic prostatic carcinoma. They are nowadays used for various indications and younger age groups. The effects of antiadrogens on male sexual organs were investigate the role of adjuvant LH replacement therapy in preventing injury and the effects of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors on reversal of the injury.Five groups,consisting 8 rats each, were used. Rats in groups 1 and 2 were given cyproterone acetate plus SF or LH for 14 days. Rats in groups 3,4 and 5 were given cyproterone acetate for 14 days, and then were given SF or lisinopril or captopril for 30 days. At the end of administration, the testicles were excised and examined.Cyproterone acetate caused histopathological detoration in testes, where adjuvant LH replacement therapy could prevent the injury. Cyproterone acetate-induced testicular injuey was found to be reversible, but the study could not reveal any conclusion related to the effects angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors.It was concluded that cyproterone acetate caused a reversible testiculer injury which could be prevented with adjuvant LH replacement therapy.
