Abstract (EN)
Seismic isolation systems have been developed throughout the last century, and have recently been used worldwide to isolate structures from earthquakes. In Turkey, the Ministry of Health issued a 2012 circular mandating the use of seismic isolators in hospital buildings of 100 beds or more in earthquake zones, and these systems have become widely used in hospital buildings. Seismic isolation systems, which reduce the accelerations affecting the structure and prevent the formation of relative floor drifts, have also begun to be used in structures such as bridges with developing technologies. In this thesis, a 50-bed hospital building was modeled with steel and reinforced concrete supports and fixed supports. These models were also modeled with seismic isolators, and a total of four different models were designed. These models were analyzed using the finite element calculation program using a nonlinear time-history analysis method under the impact of the El Centro earthquake. The floor shear forces, relative floor drifts, displacements, base shear forces, accelerations affecting the floors, and building periods for all models were examined. Finally, the reinforced concrete hospital building with fixed foundation was designed with seismic isolators and cost analysis was made by calculating additional manufacturing.
