The effect of the systemic family approach based group psychoeducation program on the adaptation level of divorced individuals

In this study, the effect of the Adaptation to Divorce Group Psychoeducation Program (ADGPP) for divorced women and men, and the permanence of this effect for six weeks, which was prepared based on the Systemic Family Approach (SAY), was examined. The research consisted of divorced women and men who voluntarily participated in the research in a private counseling center in Denizli in July-November 2019. In the research, a 2x3 quasi-experimental design based on the pre-test, post-test, and follow-up model with experimental and control groups was used. A total of 22 divorced participants, 11 (5 men, 6 women) in the experimental group, and 11 (4 men, 7 women) in the control group, participated in the study. The Divorce Adjustment Scale (TDAS) developed within the scope of the research was applied to the participants as a pre-test, post-test, and follow-up test. While the ADGPP was applied to the experimental group based on SAY, which was nine sessions and each session was 120 minutes, no action was applied to the control group. The findings of the study were obtained using quantitative data and supported by qualitative data. ANCOVA and t-test were used to analyze the quantitative data of the study. When the findings of the study were examined, it was found that there was a significant difference between the pre-test, post-test, follow-up test mean scores of the experimental and control groups, and this difference was in favor of the experimental group. As a result, it was observed that the psychoeducation program for adaptation to divorce was effective in increasing the level of divorce adjustment for divorced people, and this effect lasted for six weeks.
