Skin infections caused by emerging Candida species

In this study, the important of chromogenic media in the isolation and identification of Candida species from clinical samples with the suspicion of superficial mycoses was investigated, and their important in routine diagnosis were discussed by comparing two different chromogenic media with traditional methods. Clinical and postmortem studies show that these microorganisms are an important risk for a large community, especially those with immunosuppressed transplantation and burns, those with hematological malignancies, those who have undergone surgical operations, newborns and intensive care patients. The location and distribution of Candida species in the human flora also differs from person to person due to characteristics such as nutritional habits and age. In skin flora, C. parapsilosis, C. guilliermondii, C. albicans is mostly isolated around the mouth, anorectal and genital areas, and between the fingers, which are the junctions of the skin and mucous membranes. C. albicans is present at a high rate of 75% in the oral flora, followed by C. tropicalis, C. krusei and C. glabrata. C. albicans is high in the anorectal region and feces, followed by C. tropicalis and C. glabrata. Dietary factors such as excessive consumption of fresh fruits and sweet foods and the use of antibiotics cause an increase in the number of fungi in the digestive system.
