Primary school teachers' attitudes towards constructivism and their self efficacy beliefs towards the implementation of constructivism: Afyonkarahisar sample

The general purpose of this research is to determine the attitudes of primary school teachers towards constructivism and their self-efficacy beliefs towards the implementation of this approach. For this purpose mixed method has been used in the study, the quantitative data have been collected through ?Constructivist Approach Attitude Scale" and "The Self-Efficacy Beliefs Scale Towards The Implementation of Constructivist Approach?, the qualitative data have been collected through semi-structured interviews.In the current study, one of the probability sampling methods, cluster sampling has been used. The sample of the study composes the 306 primary teachers who work in the city center and the towns of Afyonkarahisar in the 2012-2013 academic year. Qualitative data have been obtained through semi-structured interviews with 14 primary school teachers.At the end of the study it has been emerged that the primary school teachers have positive attitudes towards the constructivist approach. Another result of the current study is that the self-efficacy beliefs of the primary school teachers towards the implementation of constructivist approach are high.
