Abstract (EN)

In this study, the economic power dispatch problem (EDP), which is one of the important problems in electric energy systems, was solved using the Starfish Optimization Algorithm (SOA). EDP is characterized as a nonlinear optimization challenge, where the objective is to minimize the total fuel costs of the energy generation units in a power system, subject to a range of physical and electrical constraints. The problem was initially defined as a non-convex model, and power losses in transmission lines were incorporated into the problem using the B-Matrix approach. Subsequently, the SOA was used to find a solution to the economic power dispatch problem in test systems consisting of 15, 40, and 110 generation units, respectively. To demonstrate the success of the Starfish Optimization Algorithm, the same problems were also solved using some current methods as reported by researchers. The results demonstrated that the Starfish Optimization Algorithm outperforms alternative methods in both solution quality and computational efficiency.
