Examining the "Nasreddin Hoca Zaman Yolcusu" cartoon in the content of the values in the social studies curriculum

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is examined the "Nasreddin Hoca Zaman Yolcusu" cartoon in the context of the values in the Social Studies Curriculum of 2018. The research was carried out with the qualitative research methods. The data of this research was gathered from the first 42 episodes of "Nasreddin Hoca Zaman Yolcusu" cartoon which was published by the TRT Çocuk channel and TRT Çocuk channel's website between 2019 and 2020. In the research it is determined that the values that are mostly included in the 42 episodes of the "Nasreddin Hoca Zaman Yolcusu" cartoon; benevolence, responsibility; value of benevolence is most deficiency in cartoon which is associated with episode of Robot Mate (f=5), Lost (f=4), Extraordinary Sports (f=4), Dentist (f=5), Antiquary (f=4) and Superhero (f=4); value of responsibility in cartoon is associated with episode of Learning Literacy (f=4), Global Warming (f=3), Uninvited Guest (f=3), Never Known Joke (f=3) and Restoration (f=3); value of scientificness and sensibility which is most associated after value of benevolence and responsibility; in the cartoon least included values are freedom, patriotism, peace and giving importance of family unity, in addition the value of equality is not included in the episodes is examined. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the "Nasreddin Hoca Zaman Yolcusu" cartoon contains the values in the Social Studies Curriculum and in this respect; it can be used as an educational material in values education.
