Abstract (EN)

In the study, it was aimed to determine the post-earthquake trauma levels of social studies teacher candidates. In addition, it was aimed to determine whether the trauma levels of the social studies teacher candidates after the earthquake show a significant difference according to the variables of gender, education level, disaster education status and knowledge about what to do before, during and after the earthquake. In line with the stated purposes, the survey model, one of the quantitative research designs, was used in the research. The population of the research consists of social studies teacher candidates who are social studies teacher graduates who are in the 11 provinces affected by two earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş in 2023 and are waiting for assignment, and students who study social studies teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels. The research sample consists of 226 social studies teacher candidates determined by the "Simple Random Sampling" method, which is one of the probability-based sampling types among the social studies teacher candidates in the universe. Two different data collection tools were used to obtain the data of the study. Data collection tools are "Personal Information Form" and "Post-earthquake Trauma Level Determination Scale". Since the data collected with data collection tools in the study showed normal distribution, they were analyzed using arithmetic mean and standard deviation calculations, Independent Samples t-Test and ANOVA. In the study, it was determined that the post-earthquake trauma levels of social studies teacher candidates were moderate. In addition, in the study, it was determined that the post-earthquake trauma levels of the social studies teacher candidates differed significantly according to their gender, educational status, receiving disaster-related education, and their knowledge about what to do before, during and after the earthquake. Key Words: Social Studies, Teacher Candidates, Trauma, Earthquake.
