Investigation of social support perceptions of individuals receiving social and economic support: The case of Trabzon province

The aim of the study, individuals; The aim of this study is to reveal the relationship between socio-economic factors and social support perception level, together with the determination of the level of social support they perceive from their families, friends and macro-social environment. The research group consists of 200 participants who receive social and economic support from Social Service Centers in Trabzon province. The socio-demographic information questionnaire and multidimensional perceived social support scale (Eker & Arkar, 1995) prepared by the researcher were used as data collection tools in the research, and the SPSS program was used for the analysis of the data. Parametric tests were used because the survey method, which is one of the descriptive research methods, showed normal distribution. Accordingly, one-way ANOVA test was used to compare the quantitative continuous data between averages of more than two independent groups. After the ANOVA test, Tukey test was used as a complementary post-hoc analysis to determine the differences. Pearson's correlation analysis was applied between the continuous variables of the study. It was determined that the social support levels perceived by the participants from their families, friends and macro social environment did not differ according to the age, education, marital status, number of children, monthly income, number of people in the household, social security, place of residence, who applied for the unit and the reason for the application. However, when analyzed according to the gender variable, it was found that men had higher perceived social support, higher perceived social support to employees in other sectors than those working in the public sector, higher perceived social support by individuals who were closer to their relatives where they lived, and It was determined that individuals who applied to the social economic support unit had higher perceived social support from their families.
