Abstract (EN)

Within the scope of this doctoral thesis, the effects of social media use on communication and cultural interaction between generations X, Y and Z are tried to be revealed. The thesis consists of five main chapters. In chapter one; subject, purpose, importance, problem-sub-problems and method of research are explained. In the second part, the conceptual and theoretical framework is given, and in the third part, the concept of generation and the characteristics of the X, Y, Z Generations discussed in the research are given. In the fourth section, the data obtained as a result of field work are revealed and interpreted. The field study was conducted with a total of 35 participants using qualitative research method, in-depth interview technique (semi-structured). The obtained data were subjected to descriptive and content analysis. In the fifth and final part of the study, the results obtained within the scope of the research were given, and it was seen that the use of social media positively and negatively affects the communication and cultural interaction between the X, Y and Z Generations. In addition, the use of social media negatively affects the communication and cultural interactions of Generations X, Y and Z in their daily lives. In addition to the results of the research, suggestions for similar studies that may be conducted in the future have also been added to this section.
