Abstract (EN)
In this research, biodiesel production process from mixture of soybean and hazelnut oils is optimized by using alkali catalyzed single-phase reaction. The optimization process is performed as depending on the parameters such as catalyst concentration, methanol/oil ratio, reaction temperature and reaction time. The optimum biodiesel conversion efficiency was 90.4% at the optimum conditions of 0.5 wt % of sodium hydroxide, 15 wt% methanol/oil ratio, 120 min reaction time and 50 °C reaction temperature. After fuel characteristics of the biodiesel obtained under optimum conditions were determined, the effect on engine performance and smoke emission of biodiesels (B100, B50, B20 and B5) has been investigated at a diesel engine with single cylinder and direct injection. When compared to the diesel fuel, engine power and torque have decreased and specific fuel consumption has increased with using of biodiesel. Smoke emission has decreased with using of biodiesel.
