Abstract (EN)

The aim of our research is to examine the Attitudes and Awareness Levels of Bingöl University Faculty of Sports Sciences Students towards the Effects of Sports on Mentally Disabled Individuals. The population of the research consisted of 780 students studying at Bingöl University, Faculty of Sports Sciences. The sample group consisted of 500 people selected randomly. As data collection tools in the research; The attitude scale towards the sporting activities of mentally disabled individuals and the awareness scale towards the effects of sports on mentally disabled individuals were used. IBM SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) 22 statistical package program was used in the analysis of the data. It was determined that the data obtained showed a normal distribution. While t-test was used for independent groups in pairwise comparisons, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used in multiple comparisons and LSD (Least Significant Difference) test was used to detect the differences. A value of p<0.05 was considered significant. As a result of the research, statistically significant differences were found between the groups in the evaluation of the participants' attitudes and awareness levels towards the effects of sports on mentally disabled individuals according to the variables of age, department, class, mother's education level and father's education level. No statistically significant differences were detected in the variables of gender and presence of a disabled person in the family or relative.
