Abstract (EN)

Sport is a multidimensional activity area that supports not only physical development but also social, emotional, and moral growth. Behaviors exhibited in sports settings reflect not only physical achievement but also ethical values, adherence to rules, and respect for opponents. In this context, the concept of fair play is considered among the universal values of sport and reflects individuals' level of sportsmanship. Fair play behaviors encompass attitudes aligned with rules, social norms, and ethical principles. Today, the social impact of sports on individuals is increasing, and the values developed by young people through these experiences have become increasingly important for social life. Investigating the relationship between the types of sports individuals are engaged in and their levels of fair play can provide valuable insights for educators, sports administrators, and policymakers. Understanding the sportsmanship tendencies of individuals with diverse profiles, especially in youth centers that support social development, is essential for promoting these values. This study aims to determine the fair play levels of individuals engaged in different sports branches using a multidimensional scale. The concept of sportsmanship is evaluated through core dimensions such as adherence to social norms, respect for rules, a sense of responsibility, and attitudes toward opponents. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach with a survey model. Participants consisted of licensed athletes from various sports branches, as well as individuals involved in social and cultural activities at youth centers affiliated with the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports in Kahramanmaraş, Türkiye. A total of 762 individuals participated in the study. During the data collection process, a personal information form and the "Multidimensional Sportspersonship Orientation Scale" were used. Data were collected through face-to-face surveys and analyzed using IBM SPSS 25 software. The findings revealed that fair play levels develop independently of gender but show significant differences based on variables such as age, family income level, parental education status, years of sports participation, and type of sport.
