Abstract (EN)

Lichens are the living beings which are used for traditional treatment methods for centuries. Lichens synthesize primary and secondary metabolites. The secondary metobolites are known to have effects such as; antioxidants, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, allelopathy, antifungal, herbicide, antimutagenic, antitumor, antimycobacterial, antiviral, antioxidant, regulatory of cell division, analgesic, antiproliferative and cytotoxic effects. In this thesis, the cytotoxic effects (with MTT and LDH tests) and intracellular reactive oxygen levels (ROS test) of the secondary metabolites (Stictic acid, Salazinic acid, Atranorin) obtained from lichens were studies single and dual combination by using A549 (human lung adenocarcinoma cell) and HUVEC (human umbilical vein endothelial cell) cells. Antitumoral effect was determined by using colony formation experiment in A549 cells. The effects on angiogenesis was determinded as the result of tube formation experiment done with HUVEC cells. It was determined that, single and dual combination of the atranorin had more cytotoxic, antitumor and antiangiogenic effects than other lichen secondary metabolites.
