The stress effects on employees' creativity: Practice at a university

Stress, which is among the most important problems of today's world, can create negative effects on people both physically and spiritual. In particular, the stress that is constantly exposed to in business life can negatively affect the lives of individuals. However, this may be valid in situations where the level of stress that individuals are exposed to is high. If the level of stress that individuals are exposed to is reasonable and appropriate, it can positively affect the performance of individuals, namely their creativity. In this respect, this study investigates whether there is a relationship between the stress levels of academic staff working at a state university in the 2021-2022 academic year and their creativity, and the effect of stress on creativity. 194 academic staff responded to the questionnaire applied within the scope of the study. In line with the information obtained, whether the stress levels and creativity levels of academic staff differ according to their demographic characteristics It was tried to be determined by "Independent-Sample T Test" and " One Way Anova " tests. According to the results obtained, it was determined that the stress level differed according to the variables of gender, marital status and age. It was determined that the level of creativity differed according to gender and marital status. "Pearson Correlation" analysis was performed to determine whether there is a relationship between stress levels and creativity levels. According to the results obtained, it was determined that there is a moderate relationship between the stress level of academic staff and the level of creativity. Finally, "Regression Analysis" was carried out to determine whether the stress level has an effect on creativity. According to the results of the analysis, the level of stress has a statistically significant effect on the level of creativity.
