Abstract (EN)

Technological developments; lead to the production of many chemicals with various structures, that are used in many industries and widespread use of these substances. Among the produced and consumed substances are dyes. These substances are contained in the wastewater of textile and dye production plants and are also discharged to the environment. Novel technologies must be developed for rendering these substances harmless and their color removal. Biological treatment systems can be used for color removal from wastewaters in addition to various physical/chemical methods such as flocculation/coagulation, adsorption and chemical oxidation. Color removal efficiency obtained by these methods vary depending on the type of dye in wastewater. Some alternatives to color removal methods were developed among which is color removal in ultrasonic system. This study was conducted with Basic Red 29 Dye in the ultrasonic reactor. The experimentation was performed at three different frequencies as, 28, 45 and 100 kHz, the effects of some ions (SO4-2, HCO3- and NO3-2) that may be present in water, Nitrogen gas and Fenton process (Fe+H2O2) on color removal were investigated. In this study, more than 90% color removal was obtained using the Fenton process. Key Words : Dyes, color removal, ultrasonic reactor
