Analysis of leadership style of male athletes who attended team sports and outdoors sports

Abstract (EN)

This research has aimed to examine the integration of characteristic features of leadership between sportsmen who are engaged in team sports and sportsmen who are involved in outdoor sports. The study consists of 51 candidates who are actively engaged in team sports and outdoor sports in the provinces of Elaziğ and Malatya in Turkey. On the other hand, a draft of scale was carried out to 99 sportsmen who are engaged in team sports in the process of development of the scale of the draft scale. Non-parametric tests were chosen for data analysis. Whilst Mann-Whitney U test was implemented for binary comparisons, Kruskal-Wallis H test was used for multiple comparisons (?= 0.05).outdoor sports leadership scale which consist of 40 questions and Scale of characteristic Features of Team Leadership which is composed of 16 questions were asked to the participants in order to determine the characteristic features of the leadership. The consequences of the research has showed us after conducting a research concerning the sportsmen?s period of being captain, sport-making years, income, education level, ages, sport-making cities and sport branches, there is no remarkable diversity. As for the sportsmen who are engaged in outdoor sports, they seemed to be significantly different from each other in terms of tutorial behavior, being a model, and risk taking. In addition, looking at the marital status, it has been seen that the variable of being a model had been differentiated with the points of the leadership behavior from the research, and according to place where the sportmen live, there has been seen considerable difference on the variable of democratically decision making with the points of leadership behavior from the questionnaire. On the other hand, there is no important differences, when it comes to taking into consideration of sportsmen?s sports-making years, income, and educational level, As a result, according to the research which was conducted on the basis of certain variables, there is no any differences among the features of the leadership behavior for sportsmen who are performing for the team sports. However, it has found out that considering of the variables of the democratically decision making, being a model, tutorial behavior and risk taking, there are variances among the features of the leadership behavior.
