Abstract (EN)
In our daily lives we make use of many objects and services to address our various needs and to make our lives easier. It is required that these objects and services should be comprehensible and easy to use. User's preference among these objects, easy understanding of them and behaviours being parallel to expectations can be possible by designs which are aware of stereotypes. Stereotypes cause people to act in a specific manner without thinking. They bring serious advantages in avoiding misunderstandings, eliminating negative aspects and difficulties which can be present in specific branches of design. The aim of this dissertation is to observe samples, to derive various approaches and hence to reach to conclusion under the guidance determined by the words 'design' and 'stereotype'. The subject is investigated under five main topics. In the second chapter the word and concept of 'design' are explained. The third chapter explores the concept of stereotype by means of several comparisons and puts out the reasons behind stereotypes and their targets. In the fourth chapter by considering the meanings of the words 'design' and 'stereotype' several point of views are formed. In accordance to these point of views, different examples of controls, displays and objects are examined in the fifth chapter. In the sixth chapter Stereotypes influencing the visual design are mentioned. VI
