Abstract (EN)

In discectomy performed cases, its recomended to replace the disc space with cage and fusion materials, to prevent complications such as disc and foraminal space narrowing. During anterior interbody fusion surgery, autogenenos bone graft usage is recommended primarly. Due to pain and infection complications of autogenos bone grafts, syntethic graft can be an alternative in some cases. Current studies on graft thecnologies are in progress. In our study we evaluated the bone fusion effect of boron which has been shown to be effective on bone and calcium metabolism when applied localy on the bone. In this study where the effects of boron and hydroxy apatite were compared, callus was developed radiologically on all subjects. It is shown that boron and hydroxy apatite caused same size of callus formation . In pathologic examination the fusion was not as good as hydroxy apatite but better then control group. Osteoblastic activity was best shown in hydroxy apatite group.
