Abstract (EN)
Today, the advancement of technology and new developments in the field of health have made it possible to extend the life span of people. Accordingly, the proportion of the elderly population is increasing rapidly both in the world and in our country. The increase in the number of elderly population in the general population has brought along social problems. Due to social developments, migration from rural areas to urban areas and the transformation of traditional family structure into nuclear family have increased the frequency of encountering social problems for the elderly. Among these social problems, the elderly are faced with situations such a being alone and being exposed to social exclusion. These problems are not only problems that concern the individual, but also come to the fore as problems that concern the society. The aim of this research is to examine the social exclusion they are exposed to due to the physiological, social, psychological and economic deficiencies brought about by the old age from a sociological perspective Keywords: Discrimination, Elderly, Loneliness, Old age, Social Exclusion
